Teacher jailed for taking 16-year-old pupil's virginity and sending nude pictures of himself via Snapchat

Jonathan Firth, 33, started a relationship with the girl after hearing she had a crush on him

Call the Midwife
Comfort and joy: Festive spirit reaches the midwives
As Vanessa Redgrave – the narrator of this hit series – movingly declares, “Christmas is a time for reaching out and finding comfort in the magic of a season that endures.”

And compassion is certainly a theme which is central to this heartwarming festive special, featuring the nuns and nurses of Nonnatus House.

Set against a Yuletide backdrop of snowstorms, mince pies and a cute nativity play, the special episode also explores tear-jerking issues that will have viewers reaching for the Kleenex.
First, Miranda Hart’s posh character Chummy is called upon to sort out a poorly run mother and baby home.

“Chummy to the rescue, I say. Ticketyboo!” cries the actress, who also appears in the last ever episodes of Miranda on New Year’s Day.

“These girls are not being cared for either emotionally or physically.
“It’s a serious storyline, but the episode is still as delightfully Christmassy as ever. Chummy puts a show together with the little girls and it’s very sweet.”

Elsewhere, former EastEnders actress Kacey Ainsworth – who played Little Mo between 2000 and 2006 – guest stars as Nancy, a vulnerable former resident of a Victorian mental hospital, who believes she may be pregnant.

“For me, this episode is about the people who are excluded from society,” explains Pam Ferris, who plays Sister Evangelina. “Why should they be hidden away at Christmas and not allowed to take part in things?”

It’s also a big episode for sweet-natured Cynthia, who takes Nancy under her wing and ponders a potentially life-changing decision.

“Cynthia is on a voyage of self-discovery,” hints Bryony Hannah, who portrays the deeply religious midwife. “She’s searching for something and is looking for a sign that it’s the right thing to do – an unselfish act.”

CTM fans are also in for a special treat as the Christmas episode is the first time thatveteran actress Vanessa Redgrave is actually seen on screen.

She plays Jenny Worth, who wrote the books from which the acclaimed series is adapted.
Viewers will see her in 2005, preparing for Christmas and reminiscing about her old friends at Nonnatus House back in 1959.

Although there have only been two previous Midwife festive specials, both have been big ratings winners and a visit to Nonnatus already feels like a regular fixture in the Christmas Day TV schedules.

“It’s funny how quickly Call The Midwife has been accepted as an established Christmas Day tradition,” laughs Stephen McGann, (Dr Patrick Turner). “We consider it a real privilege.”
With Jessica Raine having left her role as Jenny Lee, peroxide blonde nurse Trixie Franklin is now one of the lead characters. Viewers will see her relationship with handsome vicar Tom Hereward (Jack Ashton) reach an important crossroads.

“Trixie is really enjoying Christmas with the vicar,” explains Helen George, who plays her. “They’ve been dating a while now.

“Making the festive special was weird because we filmed it in summer, when it was 30˚C. But being in such a popular Christmas show is what actors dream of.”

As ever, the miracle of childbirth plays a big part in the action, with life imitating art for some of the actors involved. Ben Caplan plays new father PC Peter Noakes, who dotes on his baby son Freddie. And off-screen Ben became a dad this month, too.

Call The Midwife Christmas Special
Out of the shadows: Narrator Vanessa Redgrave finally appears on screen
“It was really emotional for me to see the birth scenes in the Christmas special,” Ben admits. “Because it’s only recently that I was in the delivery room watching my wife give birth to our daughter.

“It’s so great to celebrate the work of midwives, as they do an absolutely incredible job.”
Cliff Parisi, who dresses up as Santa for this episode in his role as handyman Fred Buckle, is also looking forward to a very special Yuletide gift.

“My wife is due just after Christmas,” says Cliff, who also played EastEnders’ Rick ‘Minty’ Peterson. “

There’s going to be babies everywhere – I just think it’s brilliant.”

Doting dad Simon Cowell cradles baby Eric as he strolls along Barbados beach with Lauren Silverman

Simon Cowell painted the picture of family happiness as he took a stroll along the beach with baby Eric and girlfriend Lauren Silverman this week.

The X Factor boss is currently enjoying his winter break in Barbados and making us coo ever so slightly with these most recent pictures.

Shots show the topless 55-year-old cradling his adorable son, who was born in February, as a grinning cap-wearing Lauren walks beside him.

Earlier in the week Simon was spotted walking his three dogs up the beach while being stopped intermittently by passers-by wanting a snap with the famous TV judge.

He then spent some quality time with his missus as they took two jet skis out into the sea together, looking the epitome of cool as he arrived back to the beach.

But despite attempting to relax on his mini winter break, it appeared Simon couldn't go anywhere without being the centre of the paparazzi's attention.

The eighties pop star, together with publicist friend Jason Gale, was behind Simon and Lauren every step of the way as they were pictured taking a walk along the beach altogether.

Rex Simon soared to victory on this year's X Factor with his act Ben Haenow eventually taking the crown.

But rather than hitting the studio, Simon jetted straight off to the beach, telling Ben they would meet up after Christmas.

"He [Simon] said he's going to have a little break and he understands the intensity of the competition we've been through," said Ben. "He said go and have a little break yourself and we'll be in touch afterwards. I think he deserves one."

Gangnam Style music video 'broke' YouTube view limit

Korean rapper-singer Psy performs on NBC"s 'Today show in New York in this 14 September 2012 file photograph.
Psy's horse-galloping dance move was immortalised in the Gangnam Style video
The music video for South Korean singer Psy's Gangnam Style exceeded YouTube's view limit, prompting the site to upgrade its counter.

YouTube said the video - its most watched ever - has been viewed more than 2,147,483,647 times.
It has now changed the maximum view limit to 9,223,372,036,854,775,808, or more than nine quintillion.
Gangnam Style became a worldwide hit when it was released in 2012, largely due to the surreal video.

Grey line
How do you say 9,223,372,036,854,775,808?
Nine quintillion, two hundred and twenty-three quadrillion, three hundred and seventy-two trillion, thirty-six billion, eight hundred and fifty-four million, seven hundred and seventy-five thousand, eight hundred and eight.

Grey line

Gangnam Style has been watched more than 2.15 billion times as of 4 December
YouTube's counter previously used a 32-bit integer, which is a unit used to represent data in computer architecture. This means the maximum possible views it could count was 2,147,483,647.
On 1 December, it posted a statement saying: "We never thought a video would be watched in numbers greater than a 32-bit integer... but that was before we met Psy."

In 2012 the BBC's Rico Hizon asks Gangnam Style's Psy the story behind his name
Google, which owns YouTube, later told website The Verge that engineers "saw this coming a couple months ago and updated our systems to prepare for it".

YouTube now uses a 64-bit integer for its video counter, which means videos have a maximum viewer count of 9.22 quintillion.

Psy has yet to comment although news of YouTube's change was posted on his Facebook and Twitter pages.
The second most-watched video on YouTube - Baby by Justin Bieber - lags behind Gangnam Style by more than a billion views.

Fox announced Wednesday that the Big Machine Records CEO and president will work as a mentor on “Idol” when its 14th season debuts Jan. 7.
The winner of the next season of “Idol” will be signed to Borchetta’s Big Machine Records. The roster includes Swift, Florida Georgia Line, Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw, Reba McEntire, the Band Perry and Brantley Gilbert.

Miss World Singapore contestant in local R21 movie says she's 'not a porn star'

The Singaporean actress who is starring in controversial film 'Lang Tong' has spoken up on her Facebook page.

Directed by Sam Loh, the local film made headlines recently when it passed uncut by censorship at the Singapore International Film Festival.

Miss World Singapore 2014 3rd runner-up, Angeline Yap, relates how it was overwhelming to see her face plastered on newspapers and websites everywhere.

In her Facebook post, she also responded to criticism and clarified that she was not a beauty pageant finalist at the time the movie was filmed.

She wrote, "It's kinda overwhelming to see my face and name everywhere on different websites and Newspapers.

"But well I guess, it's part and parcel of fame, in a positive way I hope.

"I would like to emphasize one last time, when I was filming this movie it was in FEB 2014. I was not in any beauty pageants. AND I WAS NOT the Miss World Singapore 3rd Runner Up when filming the movie. But now I am.

"So please don't say, "How can Miss World 3rd Runner Up do this, do that" and etc."
Yap ended the post with a statement: "And I'm NOT a porn star. Thanks for your attention."

Stop everything: Homeland just got seriously good again as Carrie tries to save Saul

Stop everything: Homeland just got seriously good again
Carrie’s on a mission to save Saul (Picture: C4)

Homeland ramps up the tension as Carrie tries to identify a security breach within the US Embassy while struggling to keep an escaped Saul from harm.

If last week’s episode was Claire Danes’ showreel for next year’s Emmys, then this week was Mandy Patinkin’s as Saul is put through the emotional wringer. Carrie prevents her mentor from committing suicide at the expense of breaking a promise to kill him rather than let him fall back into captivity.

Carrie Mathison, super spy
Homeland at times gets bogged down by the weight of its political intrigue – and there’s plenty of that in this episode –  but it’s at its best when it combines this with its tense portrayal of contemporary spycraft.

In between her doomed romances and bipolar misadventures, it’s easy to forget that Carrie Mathison is a brilliant spy. She’s at her best when forced to rely on her wits and come up with instinctive, out-of-the-box solutions.
Here she’s once again three steps ahead of all her colleagues.

With Saul on the run, having faked his own hanging to engineer his escape from Haqqani’s camp, it’s Carrie who smells a rat when the Pakistani delegation seem unworried by their negotiations with Ambassador Boyd. And it’s she who realises they are using the CIA’s drone to lead them to Saul.

With Taliban forces swarming around the town to which he has fled for extraction, Carrie has to talk Saul back from the edge of the cliff as he prepares to kill himself. To save his life, she deliberately steers him directly into the heart of the Taliban forces, realising that imprisonment is her best chance to keep him alive, at the cost of breaking her promise.

This whole sequence plays out from a distance as Carrie and her team watch as a series of on-screen markers converge on Saul’s position like a real-life version of Pac-Man. If the Kabul control room from which she ordered the initial air strike on Haqqani was clinical and businesslike, in Islamabad this time there’s an unmistakable crackle of emotion and stakes that are high on both a geopolitical and personal level.

But now what, with Lockhart agreeing to the terms of Haqqani’s prisoner exchange? Is it really game over?

Who’s on whose side?
By the end of the episode, it’s clear that counter-terrorism chief Khan and ISI agent Tasleem Qureshi are pulling in different directions.
Tasleem’s plan to discredit Carrie and have her sent home is thwarted by Khan’s intervention. He instead exposes Dennis Boyd as the security breach. But does he have an agenda of his own?

What else is going on?
This was a fabulous episode of Homeland – the closest the show has come to the high points of its first season. Political power plays wrapped up in the twin guises of diplomacy and terrorism. Genuine uncertainty over key characters’ motivations and loyalties. And top-notch performances from the entire cast, but Danes and Patinkin in particular.

And there’s a sense that the main event is still to come. Next week’s episode is intriguingly titled There’s Something Else Going On. Have the dramas involving Saul and Carrie merely been window-dressing – and, if so, who’s planning to do what?
Homeland just got seriously good again.

I’m A Celebrity: Mel, Tinchy, Jimmy and Foggy facing elimination after Terror Tombs challenge

I'm A Celeb: Who's facing elimination first?

Mel Sykes, Tinchy Stryder, Jimmy Bullard and Carl Fogarty are the first celebrities up for elimination in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here.

They failed to win immunity after taking on the Terror Tombs, with the Wombats and the Galahs facing off.

Both groups had to face identical Terror Tombs, which involved each celeb staying a minimum of 15 minutes inside a dark tomb.

After the initial 15 minutes a key was dropped into the tomb. The celebs had to scramble to put the key into the lock, turning on a light which would mean they had completed the challenge and could be released.

The team that won the most rounds was exempted from elimination.
Vicki, Nadia and Michael went first for the Galahs with Jimmy and Mel doing it for the Wombats.

After lying down in the dark for a spell they were understandably horrified when rats were let into the tombs.

Jimmy Bullard was first to yell ‘Get me the f**k out of here, sharpish’ saying he ‘couldn’t f*****g do it’ as he was released.

In the second round, Tinchy went for the Wombats and team Kenwina for the Galahs. As cockroaches, crickets and mealworms slithered in Tinchy made the best of it by ‘writing music’ in his head. Kendra on the other hand was less calm.

In the final round it was Jake and Foggy’s turn for the Galahs and Wombats respectively, with snakes joining them in the tombs.

It was later revealed that the Galahs had won immunity, meaning the Wombats would be up for the first public vote.

Jimmy, Mel, Tinchy and Foggy are all facing elimination, with one of them heading home tomorrow night.

B.A.P reported to have filed to nullify their contract with TS Entertainment

BAP_1417070274_af_org

It seems another lawsuit has been filed for a contract nullification in the K-Pop world, as a report has surfaced claiming that B.A.P has filed against their agency TS Entertainment.

According to an exclusive by Xsports News, all 6 members filed to nullify their contract. It's said their application for the suit was submitted on the 26th at the Seoul Court.

It has also been revealed that that the contract was designed to only be beneficial to the agency and disadvantageous to the members. In addition to the length of the contract, the boys are said to have only received 18,000,000 KRW (~ 16,000 USD) per member for the 3 years that they've been active.

Despite the unfair conditions, the boys have released a total of 11 albums and promoted endlessly all over the world, even until the point that their health deteriorated.
In response to this report, T.S. Entertainment has revealed that they are looking into confirming the matter and will be releasing an official statement soon.

Andy Murray and Kim Sears engaged: Tennis champ has finally popped the question after nine years together

Andy Murray and Kim Sears are engaged

Tennis star Andy Murray has proposed to long-term girlfriend Kim Sears, after more than nine years together.

The Wimbledon champion has been in a relationship with Miss Sears since they met at the US Open in 2005, apart from a brief split around five years ago.

Andy’s family – including his mum Judy, who took part in this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing – are said to be overjoyed by the news.

A source told the Mirror the 27-year-old sports star proposed on Wednesday with an expensive diamond ring: ‘Andy spent ages thinking about the ring, he chose the design himself and picked it up last week. He then proposed on Wednesday.

‘Kim said “yes” immediately. They are completely besotted with each other and have been there for each other through thick and thin.

‘They are just going to enjoy themselves before they start planning their big day.’
Representatives have confirmed the engagement.

Sussex-born Miss Sears, 26, who has an English Literature degree, paints from their home in Surrey, where she looks after the couple’s beloved dogs Maggie May and Rusty.

It has not always been plain sailing for the couple, who split in 2009, with reports Kim, the daughter of player-turned-coach Nigel Sears, then 21, moved out of the mansion they shared in Surrey and returned home to her parents.

Kims face has became familiar to millions of tennis fans worldwide, especially at Wimbledon, as she cheers on the Scot from the stands.

Dunblane-born Murray has previously admitted he couldn’t have come back to win Wimbledon in 2013 – after his 2012 defeat – if it hadn’t been for her constant support.

In the past Murray has been notoriously reluctant to answer questions about his relationship.
Earlier this year he was forced to deny that he planned to marry her after joking about proposing on Twitter.

Asked when he plans to marry Miss Sears during a Twitter Q&A with fans in January, Murray responded: ‘We’re getting married just after Wimbledon, should be a great day.’

But just hours later, Murray was forced to issue another tweet explaining he was joking around after the original message went viral.

He tweeted: ‘3 things.. I don’t smoke grass, I’m not getting married(yet) and I don’t want to kill rafael Nadal…’

At the time a spokesman for the star confirmed that ‘Andy Murray is not getting married this summer.’

Murray flew to the Philippines to play in the International Premier Tennis League yesterday and made no hint he had anything on his mind but tennis, tweeting: ‘Off to the Philippines for the first time today, should be a fun trip… Anyone got some suggestions for first time tourists in Manila?’

Self-confessed Paedophile Next Door hopes mum is ‘proud’ he outed himself on TV

Self-confessed Paedophile Next Door hopes mum is 'proud' he outed himself on TV
Eddie is a self-confessed paedophile and is calling for help for people sexually attracted to children in a bid to stop them becoming criminals (Picture: PA)
Eddie is a self-confessed paedophile and is attracted to children as young as five. He is hoping his mother is proud of him for coming clean on national TV when she sees him on tonight’s episode of The Paedophile Next Door.

Eddie, 39, is not exclusively attracted to children and finds women of all ages attractive. He says paedophiles like him suffer alone and go unnoticed in the community. He wants them to be able to speak out and get help before their desires are realised.

Coming clean to his estranged mother in a letter penned during tonight’s show, he wrote:
“Dear Mum,
There’s no easy way to say this so I’ll just come out with it,
I guess the word paedophile comes with a lot of baggage so it will be difficult for you to read that this is a relevant description for me…
It’s important for you to know that I’ve; never had any sexual contact with a child despite many opportunities.  I honestly think I couldn’t do it and I don’t want to do it.
I concluded some time ago that all I can do as a result of my situation is to try hep others who are experiencing similar thoughts and feelings to what I’ve had and reduce sexual abuse of children in a meaningful way.”

‘I would like to think she would be proud of me in a little way for doing what I know is right,’ he added afterwards.

Elsewhere in the Channel 4 documentary Eddie explains that he was ‘genuinely distressed and worried’ when he first discovered he was a paedophile in his mid-twenties
‘At the time Sarah Payne had just been raped and murdered so there was understandably hysteria,’ he said. ‘And you immediately assume that every paedophile is a rapist and that you’re going to do something bad…

‘People automatically assume that at some point you will abuse a child and that there’s no way of helping you.’

Eddie hopes that by coming out men like him will be more readily offered support to manage their unwanted desires.
